For
any individual, company or group to have a presence on the web, two things
are required, a unique name (called the domain name), which can be
translated to a unique IP address to allow web users to directly locate
the services available, and a computer permanently connected to the web
with the those services loaded e.g. web pages. Most people cannot afford
the expense involved to do this for themselves, so they host their
websites using a 3rd party called a
Domain hosting company.
For
Earls Court, our Domain is called www.eecp-ywam.org.uk
and our hosting company is called Andrews and Arnold whose domain is
called aasip.net.uk. The services available at this domain include WWW
services (the web site), mail services and ftp services.
Our
website has been designed using Microsoft FrontPage and the master copy is
held on the administration machine in directory C:\Documents
and Settings\admin\My Documents\ECCP_Documents\Websites along with the software
required to update it. Because of current restrictions, FrontPage
extensions features should not be used in the web design. For detailed
instructions of how to update the website, see the relevant administration
details.
