The Earls court Network
consists of a series of computers (currently 9) running Windows 2000
professional or Windows XP, connected together using 10BaseT UTP cabling, linked
together using a 16 Port Switch Hub in the computer room. The Internal
network has been allocated the network IP address 192.168.1.0 and each
computer has been given a name, which is on a label on the front of the
machine. If a computer wishes to connect to another on the internal
network, it uses this name as a reference.
The Internal Network is then
connected to the Internet through an ADSL 2000 router linked to Andrews
and Arnold, our internet Service providers, and from Andrews & Arnold
to he internet itself. The telephone line used for the Internet is 0800
4244 6602 and terminates in the counselling school office. An extension
lead runs from this office to the computer room and is attached to a line
splitter that then links to the router.
This splitter allows use of the
digital Internet and an analogue telephone at the same time. Because of
this, it may be used as a backup for a modem to allow download of mail and
emergency Internet use when the ADSL Broadband link is down (Instructions
are given in this document).
The Earls court has its own
domain www.eccp-ywam.org.uk
containing both the website and a post office, stored on the Andrews & Arnold machine.
We are responsible for any
problems on the internal network, and Andrews & Arnold are
responsible for the switch outwards to the Internet.
