Mail Configuration

Staff User set-up and Configuration

The following instructions will allow you to set-up a post office account in the domain for a member of staff and to set-up Outlook express to transmit and receive from this post box. The second Step should be carried out on all machines that you want to use Post office mail from.

Step 1: Define the post box in the Domain

Click on the Start button

On the Options displayed, click on 'Programs'

On the Options displayed, click on 'Earls court - Internet problems'

On the Options displayed, click on 'Andrews and Arnold Ltd - Network Administration'

At the logon screen, Logon as user mheccpc@a  <for pw see mike/samy>

You will Receive a 'Welcome to Andrews + Arnold Ltd administration pages' screen. This Displays a graphical representation of system traffic, followed by a list of the domains we have control over. Only one domain should be displayed called eccp-ywam.org.uk. Under this entry to the right of the screen, are hyperlinks for DNS and Email Logs/setup.

Select setup by moving the cursor over the words setup and left click with the mouse. This will display a list of the post boxes available currently at this domain.

To create a new email, type the name in the username field and a password in the password box. Leave the remainder box free.

      Click on the add button.

This email account in the form <username>@eccp-ywam.org.uk will be added to the list of available accounts at the bottom of the page.

Note

i     To change any account, just double click on the relevant account from the list at the bottom of the page. This will move the details to the username/password/reminder boxes. Change as required, then click on the add button again to put the account back in the list.

Step 2: Define a Mail identity with this account

Open outlook express, ignore any errors displayed

Select the 'file' option on the menu bar and on the list of options displayed, click on 'identities'.

On the options displayed, click on add 'identity'

In the new identity screen, enter as the name the name of the person this is for. E.g. Ok-Kyung, check the 'require password' box and enter a password for this user.  Click the 'ok' button twice.

You will be asked if you want to switch to this identity. Select yes.

A set-up Internet account is now opened. Click the cancel button. We will set this up separately. Outlook express will now open for this user.

Select the 'tools' option on the menu bar and on the list of options displayed, click on accounts.  On the resulting 'Internet accounts' screen, click on the Mail tab.

Click on the import button, browse to the hayesm directory and click on the file 'Earls Court User.iaf' Click the open button.

An account will now be created called Earls Court User, which will be set as default.

Highlight this account and click on the properties button.

Change the following fields.

      General tab

            <name>

            Name                               <name>@eccp-ywam.org.uk

            Email address                 <name>@eccp-ywam.org.uk

            Reply address                 <name>@eccp-ywam.org.uk

      Servers tab

            Account name                  <name>@eccp-ywam.org.uk

For example, all the specified fields would be set to Ok-Kyung@eccp-ywam.org.uk

Personal Mail has now been set-up.

Step 3: To use this Mail

Once your 'identity' has been defined in outlook express on a machine, your mail will be kept separate from everyone else's.  You have your own inbox and outbox. By default when you load this identity it will not automatically download any mail. You will need to click on the 'send/recv' icon.

Open outlook express

Select the 'file' option on the menu bar and on the list of options displayed, click on 'switch identity'.

On the list of identities displayed, click on your Mail name and click the 'ok' button.

For security, when you have finished, Select the 'file' option again on the menu bar and on the list of options displayed, click on 'switch identity' and select the 'main' identity'.  No one can now see your mail without your password.
